AGE: 96 • Branchburg

Myrtle C. Van Hise Weiler, 96, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Born in Trenton, she was a former resident of Fords before moving to Branchburg 31 years ago.

Mrs. Weiler worked for 40 years as a Banquet Manager and Bookkeeper for various restaurants, including the Club Diana in Union. Myrtle then worked for twelve and a half years for the Somerset County Office on Aging, retiring in 1997 at the age of 80, as an In-Home Service Worker. Myrtle was a hard worker who cared for the seniors she worked with every day.

Myrtle was an avid reader and was a great cook. She loved watching old movies and was known for personalizing greeting cards with carefully selected stickers and sending to all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Weiler in 1982; her son, George Forman in 2010; her sister, Dorothy Bryan; her brother, Edward Van Hise; her grandson, Joseph, Jr.; great-grandson, Antonio Doda; and son-in-law, Raymond Catena, Sr.

Surviving are her two cherished daughters, Janice Catena of Branchburg and Mary Bialkowski and husband, Joseph of Parlin; her beloved son, Alexander Weiler, Jr. of Old Bridge; her seven grandchildren, Raymond, Carolyn, Gary, Maryann, Kenneth, Christine, and Alexander; thirteen great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; her West Highland white terrier, Scottie and her Pomeranian, Teddy.

Viewing hours will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 3:30 to 7:30 PM at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638 and Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Prayer Service to begin at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1800 Route 27, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
