William Steven Weise Obituary
William Steven Weise

AGE: 64 • Formerly of Spring Lake Heights

William Steven Weise, of New Fairfield, CT, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at age 64. Steve was the second son of Marian LeFrank Weise and William Henry Weise of Spring Lake Heights, NJ.

Steve grew up in Spring Lake Heights, attended Spring Lake Heights Elementary School and graduated from Manasquan High School (Class of 1968). He was active as a thespian, a musician, and he was an Eagle Scout with the God and Country Award. He was a scholar and an athlete, particularly tennis. His early love for flying airplanes with his Dad sent him on to graduate from The United States Naval Academy Class of '73. During his naval career Steve served initially as a flight instructor at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida. For the bulk of his naval career Steve was stationed at Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine as a pilot flying the P-3 Orion, an anti-submarine warfare aircraft. His duties put him on the front line of defense of the United States during the cold war in identifying and tracking Soviet submarines in the Atlantic. While stationed in Maine he met his wife, Heidi. Following his active duty naval career, Steve became a career pilot and Captain with American Airlines, and he continued flying as Commander with the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Steve was a proud father of two loving daughters, Stefanie and Grace, with sons-in-law Patrick Cole and Dino Brcaninovic, and the grand-father of newborn Jameson Cole.

Steve was a great lover of music. He played the drums in the Manasquan High School marching and concert bands, in local bands as a teenager, and throughout his years at The Naval Academy. He was a ranked Middle Atlantic States Tennis player and a gymnast. Steve was always the entertainer. He could walk up any flight of stairs on his hands and knock on a door with his feet, and he would always entertain and delight his friends with his quick-witted jokes and puns. Steve was also a collector of many celebrity autographs that he obtained from his celebrity passengers on his flights to and from NYC-LA. He enjoyed buying, fixing, and re-selling all types of items on E-bay and was always be proud of his "profits."

Steve leaves behind his loving siblings, Mike and Gail Weise of Vienna, VA, Billie Weise of Ocean Grove, NJ, Robert and Catharine Weise of Wall, NJ, Gretchen and Bob Wolff of Camden, ME, and Danny and Gloria Weise of Middletown, NJ. He was an uncle to 14 nieces and nephews.

Services for Steve are being planned in New Fairfield, Connecticut on January 24, 2015.
