Pietro Barbera Obituary
AGE: 89 • Toms River
Pietro "Pete" Barbera, 89, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on July 22, 2016. Pietro was born in Jersey City and lived throughout New Jersey until settling in Berkeley Township. He was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He worked as a musician, an upholsterer of boat interiors and custom cars, a house builder, and a mason, before becoming an outstanding professional artist in his sixties. Pietro worked in many mediums but was most acclaimed for his work in crayons and acrylics.
Pietro is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Philip and Marie Barbera; his two daughters: Jackie Risden and Rebecca Barbera; and his grandchildren: Dominic, Nicole, Peter, Tina, John, and Stacy. He was a very compassionate man. You can visit www.pietrobarbera.com to view his art.
Come celebrate with us the life of Pietro Barbera who has passed on to Eternal Life, on Saturday, July 30th, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7PM, at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. There will be a Prayer Service at 6PM.

knew pete since he worked at the shop in bayonne about 1965. I helped him do some of hiscars and he in turn did my upholstery work.I lost track of him, but found him again in his Leonardo shop.Im only 74 yrs old but we spent a lot of lunch times at the restaurant across from his shop.I have some of his artwork that he gave me. I still think of him every time I see a custom car with a nice interior.

Was sad to learn of Pete's death. I have fond memories of our friendship and have three of his
crayon paintings hanging here in our Florida home.

I've known pete for 50 years from a small upholstery shop in bayonne to when he lived in leonardo nj. he gave me some of his art as a friend and did a plywood for my wife. lois even putting her name on the boat in the picture. I will miss him , he was a great friend and a good person.
