Dorothy Smith Obituary
AGE: 85 • Spring Lake
Dorothy (Costello) Smith of Spring Lake passed away on Sunday, April 2 at the age of 86. The only child of Michael and Hermina Costello, she was born and raised in Bayonne, and lived most of her life in Spring Lake. She graduated from the College of New Rochelle with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. A long time quilter, Dorothy owned and operated the Crafts Cottage in Spring Lake Heights. She was an active member of St. Catharine Church in Spring Lake.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Richard C. Smith, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Tampa, FL, Claire Hassett and her husband Arthur of Hanover, MA, Michael Smith of Bayville, NJ, and Ellen Costello of Damascus, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Elizabeth Shimwell, Alexandra Smith, Jeffrey Hassett, Daniel Hassett, and Stephen Hassett, and two great grandchildren, Faye and Jane Hassett.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 5 at 10:30 AM at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake followed by burial in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall. O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall is in charge of arrangements, www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
