AGE: 82 • Morganville
Annabelle "Judy" Eckel, 82, of Wickatuck Village in Morganville, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel With her family at her side. She was born in Union Beach, NJ and has been a resident of Morganville for the past 60 years. In her earlier years Judy Worked at Newberry's in Keyport, then as a waitress at the Poets Inn n Matawan where she had made many friends along the way. She and her husband started their family business in front of their home selling produce on picnic tables. She and her husband retired the business to their son after they built it into a very prosperous garden store, Eckel Farms in Morganville. Judy was a member and volunteered her time with the Morganville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Morganville Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, her son Wayne, 3 sisters Mary Ellingham, Margaret Fisler and Catherine Grasso. She leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law Judy and Brian Webster, two sons and a daughter-in-law Danny and Janine Eckel, and Robin Eckel, a sister Sara Thompson, four brothers James, John, Raymond and Thomas Gormley and, four grandchildren, Carli, Colin, Dylan and Ryan, and her namesake "Annabelle," the cat. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 9 AM to 10 AM at the funeral home and a funeral service will take place at 10 AM, followed by interment in Old Tennent Cemetery. The family requests donations to be made in her name to the Deborah Hospital Foundation by visiting www.deborahfoundation.org. Patty and I miss walking next door for a potato or onion. End up talking for 20 minutes. I loved taking my children Amanda and Peter over on Mother's day or Easter to buy a plant for Patty. And Frank would drop a basket of flowers or vegetables by our driveway as he drive the tractor back to the stand. Miss you both and Wayne. Fine neighbors.
