Point Pleasant - Bernadette R. Barrett, age 89, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born and raised in the Bronx, Bernadette lived in Old Bridge for 20 years and for the last 15 years has resided in Point Pleasant.

Mrs. Barrett worked for many years for the Old Bridge Board of Education as a Guidance Secretary before her retirement.

Bernadette was a communicant of Epiphany RC Church in Brick where she was involved in the Helping Hands. In her spare time, Bernadette loved reading and doing crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved to be surrounded by her family, friends and relatives.

She is predeceased by her former husband, William Barrett and her daughter in law, Colleen Barrett.

Surviving are her loving children, William Barrett, Claire Barrett, Raymond Barrett, Marygrace Barrett, Sheila Costello and her husband, James, Christopher Barrett and his wife, Marianne, James Barrett and his wife Mary and Colleen Frye and her husband, Michael; her 17 grandchildren, Michael, Tanner, Rebecca, Douglas, Meghan, Casey, Jessica, Raymond, Allison, Erin, Danny, Jessica, Katherine, Shealyn, James, Mackenzie and Christopher; and her 10 great-grandchildren as well as many dear friends and relatives.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, January, 3, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, January 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Epiphany RC Church, Brick. Cremation is private.
