Stephen Yaremczak Obituary

Dr. Stephen D. Yaremczak

Edison - Dr. Stephen D. Yaremczak, of Edison, passed away peacefully, on Saturday May 4, 2019. He was born in Perth Amboy and was a lifelong resident of Edison.

Stephen will forever be remembered by his quick wit, brilliant mind, and unwavering love of living life, under his own terms.

Stephen graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in chemistry, and went on to study further at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. His love for science led him into dentistry, graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine in 1985. He was a well loved dentist and saw patients for over 35 years at his private practice in Woodbridge.

"Dr. Steve" or "Doc" was a devout Catholic and a communicant at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Fords. Throughout his life, he was generous with his time and talent doing extensive charity work. In 2018, Steve received the Humanitarian Award from the Hope for Children Research Foundation, affiliated with Columbia University Medical Center, for his years of charitable endeavors. One of his favorite activities was volunteering his time and support to a convent in New York City, run by the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's Order).

He served on the Board of Trustees at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, in Watchung, a nonprofit nursing home, run by the Sisters of Mercy, who also run Mount St. Mary's Academy for girls. He was also a former board member of the Metuchen Golf and Country Club, where he loved to organize various social events.

Steve leaves behind a legacy, filled with his love for God, unwavering friendships, and his unique way to transform strangers into friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; Stephen and Clara Ivan Yaremczak.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Erica LoPresti of Rumson, his cousins; Pam Sweeney of Metuchen, and Alexis Rorke of Southport, CT, and numerous other cousins, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 9:30 am, from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, followed by a 10:15 am Funeral Liturgy, at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. I was with Doctor Steve when he buried his dad. His Mom Klara worked with me and insisted that I go to her son as my dentist. 34 years later I was still going until God took him away. What a wonderful person who was like a son to Estelle, my wife and me. Our thoughts and prayers tonight for this xtraordinary human being.

Dr. Steve was definitely someone that new how to make a patient into a friend. For 30 years I made my way to Woodbridge to spend my time with him in his practice. There were times he brought people to get tattooed by me or the many talks we shared. Just a few months ago we compared cancer stories and ended with a well deserved hug, and a word of love. I'm going to miss you my friend. Rest easy.

My sincere condolences to the family. May the God of comfort give you the strength and endurance to help you cope with the lost of your love one.

Steve and I have known each other since we were four years old. We grew up next door neighbors. A great friend who was like my brother. He was a selfless individual who helped people in need. He went out of his way to live the Golden Rule. I cherish our friendship and the many memories of the great times we had. May he Rest In Peace.
