Barbara Jorjean Howard Obituary

Barbara (Bobby) Jorjean Howard 89, passed away peacefully May 8, 2016 in Auburn, CA. Born October 21, 1926 in San Francisco, Bobby had been a long-time resident of Sutter County. Widowed after 63 years of marriage to husband Jim Howard, she relocated to Auburn in 2012 to be closer to family.

Bobby (Schuler) was raised near the Sutter Buttes on a small peach farm and attended Yuba City High School. After graduating, she worked in San Francisco and later attended Business College in Sacramento. She moved to San Luis Obispo as a newlywed and worked for Camp San Luis Obispo. After returning to Yuba City to start a family, Bobby cherished and valued her full-time job as homemaker. Wife, Mom, Campfire Girls leader, school room mother, caregiver to elderly family members and eventually grandmother filled her very rich life.

Bobby had the reputation of extraordinary cook, turning the bountiful harvests of Sutter County into a wide variety of unforgettable eats. She was active in community service as a member of Alpha Sigma Delta Chapter. Some of her hobbies included golf, knitting and needlework, Bridge Club and spoiling her grandsons. She enjoyed a variety of travel experiences from camping in National Parks to many international trips. She loved Broadway musical productions in San Francisco and occasional casino getaways to find a lucky slot machine. A down to earth blue eyed beauty of class and style, Bobby will be best remembered as loving, devoted, protective, generous and loyal family member and friend. She will be forever loved and missed by the lives of those she so gently touched.

Bobby is survived by daughters Janice Bitzko (Mike) of San Antonio, TX, Diane Miles of Auburn and Barbie Toschi (Rich) of Grass Valley, grandsons Eric Bitzko (Amanda) of Canyon Lake, TX, Steven Bitzko (Arta) of Fort Worth, TX and Jaxson Toschi of San Luis Obispo.

Bobby is preceded in passing by husband Jim Howard and brother Melvin Schuler.

In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
