Ben Phillips Obituary

Ben F. Phillips Jr. passed away on January 30, 2019, at home with his family. He was born October 26, 1934, (the only child of Ben and Bobbie Phillips) and raised in West Texas where he attended Levelland High School and then earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech.

Dad met his wife Barbara Blair, who was also a Levelland High School student and married in 1958. His career as a petroleum engineer brought the couple, and Rebecca, Mike and Amanda, to California in 1961. A few years later Russ was added.

Dad worked for Santa Fe Minerals for over 30 years as Regional Manager, overseeing the natural gas drilling and production operation in the Sutter Buttes and was occasionally summoned to assist with projects in Central America, Africa and the LA Basin.

The family settled in the town of Sutter where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and most importantly attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He died of natural causes and was ready to meet the Lord.

He is survived by his wife; four children; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Dad kept his wits and wisdom until the end.

Please join us for a celebration of his life Saturday, February 16, 2019, 5 pm, at the Refuge in Yuba City. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity in his memory.

When someone we love falls asleep in death, we treasure the fond memories we have of them. May those cherished memories and God's promise at John 6:40 bring you a measure of comfort. Please accept my heart felt sympathy.
