Beth Beilby Blawat Obituary

Beth Beilby Blawat passed away peacefully June 27, 2014. She was born in Sacramento on June 19, 1928, to Florence & Eber Beilby of the Rio Oso/Wheatland area and was joined four years later by her brother, Don. After graduating from East Nicholas High School, she attended Sacramento City College. Beth married Kenneth "Jim" Blawat on April Fools' Day, 1948 and set up housekeeping in Sloughhouse. Nancy, was born in 1949, followed by Ken in 1952.

In 1956, the Blawats moved to Rancho Cordova. Beth was involved with Scouts and school activities, and worked at Rancho Cordova Elementary for a few years. They made many dear friends while living there. In 1994, they moved to Orangevale and loved their home and its beautiful backyard with a small orchard and vegetable garden. Beth and Jim chose to move to Independent Living in Eskaton Village in Carmichael in 2012 and have enjoyed making more friends.

Beth loved attending Dixieland Jazz Festivals with her best friend, Jeannette Erwin. Jim would drive the RV to festival locations all over California. They enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Graeagle, golfing in many locations, near and far, traveling in their RV, playing cards, and spending time with family, including their granddaughters, grandson and great-grandsons. Beth was also an accomplished seamstress, knitter, crocheter, and crafter.

The Blawats were members of the Cordova Presbyterian Church, and when it closed, moved to Cordova Methodist Church, where Beth remained active until their move to Carmichael.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her husband Jim Blawat, daughter Nancy Blawat Drewek (Mark), son Ken Blawat (Melanie), grandson Ryan (RJ) Malmgren, granddaughter Emily Drewek, granddaughter Jennifer Drewek Shilen (Jaime) and great grandsons Charlie and Tommy Shilen. Also surviving are Aunt Gladys Bever, Joyce Beilby, Rosie Blawat, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at Eskaton Village Auditorium, 3939 Walnut Avenue, Carmichael, on August 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. If you have a favorite photo of Beth, her family would love a copy.
