Clarence (Bo) Couts Obituary

Clarence (Bo) Couts passed peacefully after visiting with his family on January 23, 2016 at the age of 86 at the Sutter Roseville Medical Hospital. Bo was born August 2, 1929 in Rock Branch, Brooken, Oklahoma to Clarence Roy and Ruby Childers Couts. He was raised in the Olivehurst/Marysville, California area.

Bo and Wanda were married in 1948 in Olivehurst. Bo spent the majority of his life working and raising his family. He served several paternal organizations including a Boy Scout Master in Garberville, past president of the Kiwanis and initiated into the Free and Excepted Masons on June 28, 1954 and was a Master Mason in 1961.

Bo graduated from Marysville Union High School, in June 1947.

He worked several occupations of which include working as a mechanic at Holzman's Buick, a gas station attendant, an ambulance driver, and in 1960 he joined the CHP. His date of appointment to the CHP academy was July 1, 1960. He first served in the East LA area, followed by a northern California transfer to Salinas where he became a Sergeant, and retired out of his last post in Auburn, CA on August 31, 1989. Bo then, became a realtor in the Auburn area.

He is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Wanda Roller Couts, son, Mark Couts, granddaughter Christine (Couts) Milne, grandson, Ronald James Couts, and great-grand children Courtney and Alex Milne, Tyler, Cameron, and Seth Couts, Courtney and Brandon Bower, his brothers Rudolph Steve Couts and Thomas Earl Couts and sister, Barbara Evans.

Bo was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruby Couts, his son, Clarence Duayne Couts, his brother, Donald Lee Couts, and his granddaughter, Heather (Couts) Bower.

Bo enjoyed traveling with Wanda, cooking, and attending the CHP fishing derby. He was a Family Genealogical enthusiast, and loved curetting his wine cellar and its surrounding gardens.

Bo was known for his joking personality, happy look on life, and a great bottle of wine breathing in the kitchen. He was loved by all of his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all of them. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CAHP Widows and Orphans Trust Fund in the name of Clarence Couts. A celebration of his life will be held at the Elks Lodge of Auburn (195 Pine St. Auburn, CA 95603) on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 1:00 PM with family and friends including his Masonic, Shriner, and CHP Families. His ashes will be buried at a private family disposition at Sierra View Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
