Debra Rae (Daily) Nisleit Obituary

September 3, 1955 - May 29, 2017

Beloved wife of Jim Nisleit, and loving mother of James and Eric Nisleit. Debby adored her grandchildren, Matthew, Nadia, and Ashlyn, and is survived by her mother, Fay Daily, and sisters Pam Kirley and Laurie Daily.

Debby was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, the first child of Don and Fay Daily. She was the first grandchild on both sides of the family and adored throughout her life.

Debby was raised in Oakland and San Leandro, California. Debby met Jim, the love of her life, at Pacific High School. Jim was literally the boy down the street.

Debby and Jim married in 1973, the year she graduated high school. Jim enlisted in the Air Force and they lived in Illinois then Kansas, where James was born in 1976. Two years later, they returned to the Bay Area, where Eric was born. Jim's career gave them the opportunity to live many places, including Schmitten, Germany, but their primary residence was in Fremont for 26 years.

Debby and Jim were always involved with their children's and grandchildren's sports teams. They loved the outdoors, especially camping in the Redwoods, by the beach, or while visiting family in Idaho. Other favorites often included shopping excursions, annual family trips to Disneyland, Fenton's Ice Creamery, and watching movies.

Debby and Jim attended college part time together and graduated from Ohlone College in 1999. During her lifetime, she started two businesses worked and supervised payroll departments.

Their first grandchild Matthew was born in 1993. Nadia was born 2 years later, then Ashlyn in 2002. Debby and Jim moved to Plumas Lake in 2008, then Brownsville in 2013, when Jim retired. Debby was involved with the Girl Scouts in both communities. Even as her health was fading, Debby and Jim enjoyed traveling the back roads and visiting small towns in the foothills together.

Debby was loved by many for her caring and generous ways. Debby succumbed to her illnesses on May 29, 2017, in Marysville, CA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Castro Valley United Methodist Church, Castro Valley, CA. Memorial gifts are welcome; in lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to help fund Ashlyn's camp tuition.
