Donald Edwin Pitter Obituary

Donald Edwin Pitter went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2016 in Yuba City at the age of 65. Don is survived by his mother Eva, his wife Cindy, and his sons Wes, Chris, and Tim. Don was much loved by his three sons, two daughters-in law, and eight grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack, his brother, Walt, and his mother-in-law, Sara.

Don was born on January 23, 1951, in San Gabriel, California. He graduated from the University of Redlands in 1973 with his bachelor's degree in music. He was hired to teach music in the Pajaro School District, where he worked for 30 years. In 1978, he married Cindy Ward. They raised their three boys in Watsonville, living there for 25 years. His children will remember him for his musical giftedness, quirky humor, generosity, and for being a man passionate about serving his church and community and sharing his belief in God with others.

Don was an accomplished composer and music teacher. After moving to Yuba City, Don worked in several schools teaching music, did private lessons, tuned pianos, and organized the Tri-County Music Competition several years. He attended Hope Point Nazarene Church and was a volunteer puppy-raiser training service dogs.

A memorial and reception will be held at Grace Baptist Church at 1980, S. Walton Avenue, in Yuba City, on Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at 11:00 am. Pastor Greg Mansur will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Don's life. The family requests that in lieu of sending flowers, you may make a donation to the Tri-County Music Competition. Donations may be mailed to: Tri-County Music Competition, c/o Jinhee Chang, 1824 Sessler Pl., Yuba City, CA 95993.
