Donald F. Churchill Obituary

Donald F. Churchill, 86 of Marysville, CA passed away October 22, 2013 in Marysville. He was born January 28, 1927 in San Francisco, CA.

Don was a resident of the Yuba Sutter area, Live Oak and Yuba City, for his entire life, except for the time he served in the service. He was retired from Federal Civil Service after 30 years at McClellan AFB.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Grovene Churchill of Marysville; brother, Keith Churchill and wife, Ellen of Yuba City; daughter, Jeanne Ohl and her husband, Jim of Sparks, NV; daughter, Elvira Wright and her husband, MSG, Ret. Herbert of Copperas Cove, TX; son, Forest Churchill of Marysville; grandchildren: Donna Marie Churchill, James Anderson, Kristin Anderson, Amber Ohl, Christin Ohl, and Donald Wright; nephews: Ron Churchill and Robin Churchill; and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nina Churchill and a son, Charles Berry.

Don served 2 enlistments in the US Army and then served in the California National Guard. He grew up in Live Oak and graduated from Live Oak High School in 1945, after which he served in the Army. He later graduated from Yuba College, and then re-enlisted in the Army. Throughout his life, Don loved to sing, play his harmonica, and entertain everyone with his yodeling. He was a proud supporter of all our Military. He was an active member of Trinity Anglican Church. He served as Chaplain for the VFW Post #2563 for 30 years, volunteering as a local Hospital Chaplain and conducting more than 500 funerals for Veterans.

Donations are appreciated and may be made in Don's name to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 1:30 pm at Sutter Cemetery with Rev. Victor Schreffler, Trinity Anglican Church, officiating. Military Honors provided by the US Army.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
