Dorothy Ley "Dottie" Otto Obituary

Dorothy (Dottie) Ley Otto, of Marysville, CA, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2015. Dottie was born in Akron, OH in 1910 to George and Gertrude Ley. She was a resident of Marysville for 66 years.

Dottie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Alfred Eric (Pete) Otto; her sisters Nadine Ley Fisher and Betty Ley Borzage. She is survived by her son Pete Richard Otto (Mary) of Yuba City; brother Harry P. Ley of Sacramento; granddaughter Lisa Hobson (Eric) of Novato and her extended family Jeremy Finnerty (Jill) of Santa Rosa and Kelly Patt (Chesed) of El Segundo as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dottie graduated from Chico State University majoring in Liberal Arts and obtained her Masters Degree in Library Science following her studies at the University of San Francisco. Dorothy taught library science at Marysville High School for 20 years.

Dottie had a passion for traveling and spent many years traveling around the world with her husband, family and friends.

Dottie belonged to the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Yuba-Sutter Riding Club and the Elks Lodge.

She was a lovely woman, both generous and kind and was always willing to share her wealth of knowledge and wisdom. Dottie was a loyal friend, good-humored, and quick to express gratitude. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Honoring her request, a private family memorial will be held in her honor. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Sutter North Hospice, 400 Plumas Street, Yuba City, CA 95991.
