Dorothy M. Howard Obituary

Dorothy M. Howard, 89, a long time resident of Yuba County, passed away at her home in Vacaville, on Friday, November 21, 2014, surrounded by the love of her daughter, Nancy; daughter-in-law, Brenda, and her son, Edward.

Dorothy was born in Bradford, AR., on February 26, 1925, to parents, Thomas Virgil and Emma L. Jones.

She was the beloved wife of Warren M. (Tex) Howard, who preceded her in death on December 29, 1962, at their home on the Bryan & Willis Ranch, on Hammonton Rd.

Dorothy was a homemaker who delighted in raising her children. She loved fishing and spending time with her grandchildren, to whom she was also devoted. She was an employee of Bryan and Willis, in Linda, for many years and was a bookkeeper for Aggie Liquor, Down & Out Farms, and Davis Rental, all in the Davis area. She was also a minor author, having several short stories published by the White County Arkansas Historical Society.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert Jones, Stanley Jones, both of AR, Leonard Jones of IL, and John Jones, of Michigan; sisters, Nell Lockwood, of AR, Ruth Fisher of MI, Sue Kellim of IL, and Charlotte Jones of Woodland, CA; three step-sons whom she cherished, Irvin Howard of Las Vegas, NV, Sam Howard, of CA and Matt Howard of AZ.

Survivors are sisters, Fredda McRunels (Bill) of Marysville, CA, Judy Smith (Bill), of Woodland, CA, Tommie Joe Mayse, of IL, and her beloved children, Nancy Smith of Vacaville, Edward Graddy (Brenda) of Canadian, TX, Richard Howard (Judy) of Woodland, and Barbara Weaver of Sacramento.

Services will be held at Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Home, 629 D St., Marysville, December 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Viewing is at 10:00 am. Burial will follow after the services at Sierra View Memorial Park Cemetery, 4900 Olive Ave., Olivehurst.
