Duane Stueve Obituary

Duane Henry Stueve, of Marysville, CA, passed away peacefully at his home on December 19, 2016 with his loving wife, Odette Stueve, by his side, at the age of 81.

Duane was born April 6, 1935 in Wheaton Minnesota, where during his early years horses and wagons were his only transportation. He was a Marysville resident for 47 years.

Duane led a full life that included 20 years of service in the USAF while serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War from 1954-1974. When Duane retired from the service he worked for Erickson Lumber. He was a horse shoeing instructor at Sierra College for two years. It was certainly not the end of Duane's career as he went on to accomplish countless other endeavors in the community.

Duane always had horses, even with his deployment with the U.S. Air Force to England in the late 60s, where he performed with English volunteers putting on Wild West Shows. Duane has tried all types of equestrian events from jumping, English hunts, bareback riding in rodeo, roping, teamster and, during most of the 70's, endurance riding with his daughters.

Duane is survived by his wife of 57 years Odette (Warford) Stueve, and their four children and spouses: Antoinette Ransom (Mark), Karen Carmichael (Kent), Mary Logan (Bob), and Henry Stueve (Tracey), along with nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Duane also leaves behind a sister, Bernice Hunder (Bakersfield, CA) and brother Roger Stueve (Angie) Newbury, CA. and many nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Caroline (Speicker) Stueve, two brothers, Vincent, James and two sisters, Cecilia and Junette and granddaughter Linda Ransom.

Duane touched many lives in a positive way and will continue to do so as he watches over us all.

A Mass of Christian burial including the Rosary will be held on January 6, 2017 at 10:30AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marysville. Duane will have full Military Honors to be held after the Services. A Celebration of Duane's life will be held at the reception following the services at the church hall.
