Edgar J. Meyer Obituary

Edgar J Meyer passed peacefully on January 27, 2017 at the age of 63. He was born September 23, 1953 in Lovelock, NV and lived most of his life in the Yuba-Sutter area, attending Yuba City High School (1971) and Yuba College before beginning his career in law enforcement.

Ed started his law enforcement career at the Wheatland Police Department in 1971 before joining the Yuba County Sheriff's Department in 1977 and rising to the rank of Detective Sergeant before retiring (disability) in 1985. Ed then started his private investigation business, which he maintained until he retired in 2006.

Ed loved his family more than anything. He cherished his wife above all and showed his children every day how a man should treat a woman. He was a man of honesty and tremendous integrity and strived to instill those values in his children. He was a warm, deeply caring, wonderfully amazing man who always made people feel comfortable, made friends everywhere he went, and would do anything for a friend in need. Ed adored his grandchildren and loved every moment spent with them.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, George and Patsy Meyer and sister, Kathleen Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Della Meyer; daughter, Roberta Raper (Stephan); son, Nick Meyer (Nikkisia); mother-in-law, Janece McKinzie; brother, Steve Meyer (Karen); grandchildren, Victoria Meyer, Lucas Meyer, and Olivia Raper; and many cherished nieces and nephews and extended family.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Sierra View Cemetery with reception to follow.
