Ernest D. Ambrosini Obituary

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 for longtime Colusa resident Ernest D. Ambrosini who passed away April 28, 2014 at Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville. He was 79. He was born May 15, 1934 in Willows to E. C. "Dean" and Lillian Ambrosini and raised in Artois. He graduated from Willows High School in 1952 and entered the US Marine Corps. Shortly after discharge from the Marines, he met Sandra Beckner. The two married in 1959 and were married 52 years until her passing in 2011.

Ernie began working for the US Fish and Wildlife Service in 1958. He accepted a position at the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge in 1960 at which time he moved with Sandy to Colusa to raise their family. He eventually became Manager of the Refuge remained at there until his retirement in 1992. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed numerous outdoor activities.

In addition to his wife, Sandy and his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, William, his brother, Don (Linda) Ambrosini and his sister, Arlyne (Richard) Ponciano.

He is survived by his children: Linda (Dan Yost) Ambrosini of Grass Valley, Dean Ambrosini of Colusa, Robert (Amy) Ambrosini of Clovis and Sharon (Brian) Havers of Elk Grove. He also leaves 5 grandchildren: Jeff (Vanessa) Zimmerman, Hannah Zimmerman, Madison Zimmerman, Lana Ambrosini, Emma Havers and 2 great grandsons Alexander and Colin Zimmerman. He is also survived by 2 sisters and one brother: Lillian Louderback of Oroville, Elsie Lee of Prunedale and William (Terri) Ambrosini of Monterey.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and family man, a great friend to many, a proud grandfather and great grandfather. The Requiem Mass will be held Saturday May 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 345 Oak Street in Colusa. The Rosary will be recited Friday May 2, 2014 at 7:00 PM at McNary Moore Chapel, 107 5th Street in Colusa at 7:00 PM. Interment will be held privately at the Willows Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Fremont-Rideout Cancer Center Foundation, 618 5th Street, Marysville CA 95901.
