Fred Thomas Farley Obituary

Born to loving parents Ed and Gwen Farley in Hammond, Indiana on October 7, 1958 and raised in Lansing, Illinois. He left us on February 15, 2018 in Oroville, CA. He went to TF South High School and after graduation Fred visited California and quickly decided it was his kind of place. He lived and worked in Sacramento and Marysville until a recent move to Oroville. Fred loved deeply and with an abandon that included all those fortunate enough to know him. He was devoted to family and friends and loyal to his employers, Viking Freight/FedEx and Brown's Gas; rarely missing a day in nearly 40 years of employment. His love of music started early, his favorites were The Eagles and Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. He never missed one of their shows. His love of music was trumped only by his love of the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed the outdoors, including bird watching, camping and hiking. He hiked Half Dome in Yosemite several times.

Fred was never happier than when surrounded by friends and family enjoying his barbecue, good weather, and great music. He was quick to laugh with the kind of enthusiasm that left no doubt about how much fun he was having and how glad he was that you were there. Late in life, he learned the never ending of joy having pets and his nurturing way extended to his dogs and those of his family and friends that were always welcomed. If you knew Fred, then you were a friend for life, didn't matter if you saw him often or only on occasion. His boundless spirit and loyalty included his barber, grocers, mail carrier, dentist, and bartender. His love of great food ran a close second to family and friends. He knew all the best restaurants in Sacramento and surrounding areas (especially the "locals only" ones), the best specialty shops, and the best microbreweries.

Fred is survived by his sister, Kyle Farley of Oroville, brother Terry Farley of Portland, niece and nephew Ashley and Adam of Portland, OR, niece Jacey of Quincy, CA, niece Kaylee and nephew Kyle of Henderson, Nv, his friend and ex-wife Katie Hennessy of Marysville, and his "boys" Barley and Brownie of Marysville. The names of those that consider Fred "family" are too many to list.

Celebration of Life will be held March 3, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the 7 Mile House, 3178 State Highway 20, Marysville, CA. Please bring a dish and wear your favorite Bears, Hawaiian or Tie Dye shirt. Fred would have wanted it that way.
