Frederick Kenneth Yager Obituary

Frederick Kenneth Yager went to golf with the angels on October 29, 2014. He was 91 years old. Born on June 19, 1923 to Frederick Gerardis and Myrtle Bertha (Eggleston) Yager in Los Angeles, CA.

Growing up in Los Angeles, Fred survived 13 different elementary schools and the Great Depression. He graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1941. As World War II was calling, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He began his first career with the Los Angeles Fire Department in 1947. After 26 years of service, Fred retired at the rank of Fire Engineer.

Not quite finished working yet, Fred was hired on with the City of Yuba City as a Building Inspector and worked there for eight years. He was then hired by Sutter County in the same capacity and finally retired as the Chief Building Inspector in 1993.

Fred sat on several boards and commissions over the years, but his new found family was the Sutter Cemetery District. He was a Trustee since 2007 and if he wasn't at home building something, you could find him at the cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his parents, but survived by his wife, Sandy, of 41 years, daughters, Mary Margaret of Southern CA, Susan (Joe) of Tucson, AZ, Danette (Eric)of Ooltewa TN, and son, Dan (Jody) of Sutter, CA, along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at the Sutter Cemetery on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Dwight Deaton officiating. Reception to immediately follow at the Sutter Youth Organization.
