Gail Champion Thompson died in her sleep during the early hours of February 28, 2018, in her home in Yuba City, CA, where she resided for over 30 years. Her passing was serene and peaceful.

Gail was born on February 3, 1937, in Berkeley, CA, the eldest daughter of Philip Stapleton Champion and Mary Catherine Carse and was raised in the San Francisco East Bay with her two younger siblings, Jane and Barbara.

Gail attended the University of California at Davis and she married Jim Thompson in 1965. The couple eventually relocated to Yuba City, CA, where they resided and raised their family.

Gail was quite busy socially and she participated actively in her local community. She and Jim were past members of the Antique & Classic Boat Society, the Peach Tree Golf & Country Club, the Masonic Lodge of Lafayette, the Yuba City Rotary Club, the Lake Tahoe Yacht Club, and the Diablo Yacht Club. Gail was also a participating member of the Yuba City Moose Lodge and the California Federation of Republican Women.
