George Kurihara Obituary

Long time Yuba City resident, George "Blackie" Kurihara, passed peacefully in his sleep on February 28, 2016.

He is survived by an older sister, Euna Yano of San Francisco and younger sister, Alice Hiruo of Sacramento along with many nieces and nephews and longtime friends.

Blackie served briefly in the army during World War II while his family lived in the internment camp. After the war, Blackie was a mechanic by trade. He loved working around his property in Yuba City where he grew almonds, walnuts, peaches, nectarines, persimmons along with a bountiful vegetable garden.

He never married but was a favorite uncle to many of his nieces and nephews.

The last 6 years he lived in a senior retirement community in Sacramento. Everyone who met him became Blackie's friend as he loved people and was incredibly social. He was loved by many and will be missed.

At his request, there will be no service.
