Helen Marler Obituary

Helen Marler, of Yuba City, CA, passed away on May 15, 2016. She was born as the youngest of 9 children of Walter and Audrey Johnson in Flippin, Arkansas. She had been a resident of Yuba City for over 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Marler, of 53 years. She is survived by her son Gary Marler (Rita) and daughter Regina Marks (Len). She has 5 grandchildren: Phillip Marler (Casie), Heather Lee, Joshua Marks, Rebecca Kugelman (Joshua) and Brian Marks (Nancy). She has 10 great-grandchildren.

Helen most enjoyed rocking her babies on her lap. When they got too big for that, she cooked and her holiday feasts were legend. She had a heart of gold and was always trying and willing to help others. She would take elderly to medical appointments, cook and deliver meals to the needy, and always provided a helping hand.

She worked as a rancher for over 50 years in addition to serving as a line supervisor at Sunsweet where she worked for over 30. She was respected by all and knew the value of a hard day's work.

Her house was always open to anyone and everyone and was the center point for family gatherings. The grandchildren loved to come over and be with "Granny". She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

There will be a private (family only) graveside service per her request. In lieu of flowers please send donations to and in the spirit of Helen Marler, do something kind to help others.
