Hope died peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 17, 2016, at Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center, Redding. She was born in Los Angeles on May 20, 1937, to George and Eileen Daly Harney. Hope joined older brothers Richard and David to complete the family.

Hope's father was a cartoonist for Walt Disney. After the Second World War, when Hope was in the 3rd grade, her family moved to Marysville, CA, for her father to pursue his career as an architect/ artist. With a strong work ethic, a keen appreciation for excellent customer service, and an artistic eye, Hope was a natural at her successful career in retail and in home decorating. She also felt a calling and responsibility to volunteer in the performing arts, with seniors, the Catholic Church, and the Democratic Party.

In 1995, Hope married Paul Brewer. They enjoyed every moment of their 21 years of marriage. They first met as children in Marysville, CA, nearly 70 years ago. This long-term history created a deep bond between Hope and Paul. Paul was the love of Hope's life and devoted to her beyond words.

During Hope's retirement years, she and Paul lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Lake County, CA. During this time, Hope rekindled her hobby of painting, and she and Paul enjoyed volunteering, traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Family was Hope's greatest joy and is her proud legacy.
