Irma Marguerite Beals Nyby Obituary
Irma Marguerite Beals Nyby passed away Wednesday, May 8th at home. She recently celebrated her 94th birthday on March 23. Irma had been in the care of her family through the guidance and support of Sutter North Hospice for the last 3 months.

Irma and her husband, Royal Nyby celebrated 71 years of marriage on January 30, 2014. They had four children; John Nyby (Debra) of Pennsylvania, Jane Heuser (Tom) of Santa Rosa, David Nyby (deceased) and Denise of Ettersburg and Alicia Hrico (Gary) of Marysville; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Irma joined Royal in Germany in 1946 while he served with the Air Force during the occupation of Europe after World War II. They continued to relocate throughout Royal's 21 years of military service, which included an 18 month tour in Saudi Arabia, after which Irma returned to college receiving a BA in education. She began her 15 year teaching career while living in Wichita Falls, Texas just before moving to CA upon Royal's retirement from the Air Force in 1963, settling in Santa Rosa. Irma began in the classroom with first graders, while continuing to take classes on early childhood education. Irma served as the first teacher/director for the newly formed Head Start program in Sonoma County where she found her niche: serving young children. She became a teacher of special education and worked in that capacity until her retirement in 1978.

Irma and Royal began "relocating" again after their professional retirements, moving to Washington state for about 9 years, and then back to California, first in Redding, then Ettersburg, finally moving to Marysville in 1998.

Irma's passion in life was her Baha'i Faith and her family.

Donations may be made to Sutter North Hospice.
