Itha Johnson Stentzel, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015, at home in Yuba City, California, surrounded by loved ones. She was born March 6, 1921, in Benson, Utah, to William Derby Johnson and Ida Maria Hatch. She grew up in Benson, Utah, and left in 1940 for San Francisco, California, where she lived with Arthur and Dayle Aylworth, taking care of their oldest son; it is also where she met the love of her life, Gustave Stentzel. They were married 61 years. After WWII, the family settled in the Yuba City Area, where she has been a resident for 70 years.

She was a loving mother of seven children. She is survived by four sons, James (Cynthia) Stentzel of Broken Arrow, Allen Stentzel of Quincy, John (Kathy) Stentzel of Yuba City, Dan (Brenda) Stentzel of Live Oak; two daughters, Jeanette (Dave) Johnstone of Paso Robles and Elaine (Murray) Wight of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; 28 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Rhoda Johnson of Alabama, Norval (Faye) Johnson of Benson, Utah, Dessa (Lyle) Beck and Printha (Doug) Sorenson of North Logan, Utah.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several positions over the years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William Derby and Ida Maria Johnson; her brothers, Byron Daniel Johnson and Lee William Johnson; her son, Glen Evan Stentzel and her beloved husband, Gustave Stentzel.

Memorials may be sent to The Church of Jesus Church of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Program.

Services: Visitation will be Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 10am-10:45am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 520 Clark Avenue, Yuba City, followed by a funeral service at 11am. A graveside service will be held at Sutter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.
