James "Phillip" Mitchell Obituary

James "Phillip" Mitchell, 45, passed away at his home in Olivehurst, CA, on August 28, 2017.

Phillip was born to Harry Sr. and Iris Mitchell on December 15, 1971, in Contra Costa County, CA. He lived in the Yuba County area all his life. He graduated from Lindhurst High School in 1990.

Growing up Phillip loved playing baseball. He played in little league from a young age through his teens. He then gave back to the community by coaching several years of little league baseball. He enjoyed teaching kids how to play the game. He also enjoyed watching professional sports, his favorite teams were LA Dodgers, Dallas Cowboys, and LA Lakers.

Phillip really enjoyed the time working with his father and brother installing windmills in the Tehachapi Hills.

He had a special love for his dogs; Bumper, Ruby and beloved Diamond, which he took with him everywhere he went.

He enjoyed taking long drives through the country, fishing and hanging out with family and friends.

Phillip was a special guy; he was a devoted friend with the biggest heart that you could always count on.

Phillip was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

Phillip is survived by his brother, Harry Jr. (Treva), niece, Summer, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother: Harry Sr. and Iris Mitchell, grandparents: Carl and Lois Mitchell, and William and Marie Fry.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 10am, at First Missionary Baptist Church; 1724 Hooper Road, Yuba City, CA 95993. Immediately following will be a potluck style reception. Donations in memory of Phillip for funeral expenses may be given to Harry Mitchell Jr.
