James Ray Franklin Obituary

James Ray Franklin passed away August 6, 2014 at the age of 88. Born in Supply, Arkansas, on April 23, 1926, he graduated from Doniphan High School in Doniphan, Missouri.

After graduation, he served in the Army as a Tech Sergeant from 1944 to 1946. On leaving the Army, he came to Berkeley, California, where he worked as a grocer. It was while working as a milkman at Foremost Dairy in Oakland that he met and married Lida Clark.

Around 1964 they moved with their family to Sutter, where Jim worked in farming and heavy equipment. He went to work for the Department of Water Resources in 1973 and worked there until he retired.

Jim was preceded in death by Lida Franklin (2001), Gene Franklin, H.A. Franklin, Hazel Grubb, Daphne Lowery, Josephine Voland and Nina Booker.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Blackshere), and his sons, Steven Franklin of Reno, Nevada and Denny Scott Franklin of Live Oak.
