Jerry O. Floyd Obituary

Jerry O. Floyd passed away March 3, 2018, from complications relating to Parkinson's at the age of 78.

He was born on January 11, 1940, in Lansing, Michigan. Shortly after his birth, the Floyd family returned to their home state of Arkansas. After graduation from Searcy High School in Searcy, Arkansas, he joined the Navy and became part of the Navy Seabees. He was a Vietnam Veteran and remained in the Navy for ten years.

After leaving the Navy, he located in the Bay Area where he met and married his wife of 50 years, Joyce, and became an Animal Control Officer for the City of Oakland. He became Director of Animal Control for Sutter County in 1976 and served in that capacity for 20 years before retiring for health reasons. He loved the Yuba Sutter area because of the outdoor activities. He was an avid fisherman and never missed an opportunity to go fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his son, Clark Floyd, two grandsons, Landon Garcia Floyd and Parker Garcia-Floyd; and one granddaughter, Cooper Garcia-Floyd, and two sisters, Sharon Eichhorn and Teresa Jaynes from Arkansas.

At his request, there will be no services.
