John C. (Jack) Curtz Obituary

John C. (Jack) Curtz died at home in Sutter, November 25, 2014, four days after reaching his 82nd birthday. He was born at home November 21, 1932 to George and Agnes Curtz in Homewood, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. He was the youngest of six children.

After graduating from Westinghouse High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard. He traveled by train across country for basic training at Alameda, CA. He spent his three year enlistment in the Midwest, mostly in the Great Lakes area serving at lifeboat stations and learning technical electronics.

Following his military service, he returned to Pittsburgh and after a brief time, secured a job at AT&T as a communications technician. After ten years, needing a change of pace, he moved to Yuba City, CA, where he began working at what was then Pac Bell. He retired from the phone company with a combined total of forty years service in December 1994.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; and sisters, Dolores Campbell and Eileen Trainor. Jack is survived by two sisters, Patricia Ritchey of Lisle, IL, and Ruth Emmert of Roseville, CA, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife, Pam, to whom he had been married for forty-seven years; and his children, Ken of Live Oak, Kris of Klamath Falls, OR, Laura Tucker (Russ) of Marysville and Keith (Jannette) of Roseville; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is well loved, admired and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be conducted Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Yuba City Moose Lodge, 2:00 p.m., 205 S. Walton Road.
