Kristine Ann LaGrande Obituary

Kristine Ann (Thomas) LaGrande passed away in Sacramento, California on Thursday, September 15, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family.

Kristine was born in September 1943, in Portland, Oregon, to Kenneth and Constance Thomas. She grew up in Tulelake, CA, and later graduated from Chico State University. She taught elementary school in Fairfield, CA, for several years before becoming engaged to her college beau, Michael LaGrande. The two married in January 1969, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and resided in Williams, CA, where they raised their family.

Kristine loved her two grandsons, the New York Times crossword puzzle, and living life to the fullest with family and friends. She savored relaxing summers at her lake cabin in southern Oregon, playing the piano and the Snaffle Bit Futurity in Reno, Nevada, where she is remembered for organizing a partnership of twenty women in order to buy, train and show a three year old quarter horse. The partnership's name? TROUBLE.

A brilliant practical joker, Kristine will be remembered for her signature sense of humor and sharp-as-a-tack wit. She was the life of the party; her gifted storytelling and spot-on delivery could lift any spirit, and often did.

Kristine is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Mike; daughter, Michelle LaGrande; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Julie LaGrande; and grandsons, Andrew and Maxwell; as well as her brother, Kurt Thomas and family.

Services will be private. A celebration of Kristine's life is being planned for later in the fall, and her family hopes all those who enjoyed her friendship will attend.

In lieu of flowers, and in accordance with her wishes, Kristine's family asks that those interested in remembering her do so in Kristine's name to a charitable organization or purpose of their choosing.
