Lew Milten Matsumoto Obituary

Lew Milten Matsumoto was born in Yuba City, CA on November 25, 1926 and passed away in Marysville on June 16, 2016. He was the second of three sons born to Japanese immigrant parents. During World War II, the family of five, similarly to other Japanese-Americans at that time, was imprisoned in a concentration camp, Tule Lake in Northern California. After the war Lew served in the U.S. Army of Occupation in Japan.

Following military service, he lived for a while in Los Angeles, working, pursuing studies and earning a teaching credential. Lew taught for many years in Sacramento. He returned to Marysville when he retired in 1989. Fluent in Spanish, Lew enjoyed learning about other cultures and was especially interested in immigrants. He spent his retirement caring for his mother and older brother.

Lew was predeceased by his parents, Heitaro and Natsuko, younger brother, Andy, and older brother, Yorimi.

As requested by Lew, no funeral service will be held. Interment service will be held on July 28 at 11 a.m. at Sierra View Cemetery in Olivehurst. Lew requested no koden or flowers, but a contribution may be made to a .
