Obituary Condolences

Linda Diez, 76, of Yuba City, CA. passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2013.

Linda was born August 11, 1937 in Long Beach, California to Joseph and Lillian Perta. Her childhood was spent traveling about the United States as her father was in the Navy and they moved frequently. At the end of WWII, they returned to California.

After high school, Linda took a job with the telephone company. She met the love of her life, Don Diez, and they were married in 1957. This was the time of car clubs, dice hanging from the rear-view mirror, poodle skirts and bobby sox, and Linda loved all of it. They later moved to the coastal town of Eureka where Linda worked for Georgia Pacific Lumber Company. In 1975 Linda began a career with the California State Dept. of Employment. She would often provide valued consultation to friends who needed assistance with job related issues. She was transferred to the town of Yuba City and continued to work for the State for a total of twenty-four years. After retirement, Linda spent time volunteering for Sutter North Hospice. She was an active member of the Widowed Person Association of California Chapter 12, and the Yuba City Moose Lodge, where she met many friends.

Linda loved a good card game, the U.S.A. Blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream and camping and fishing at Trinity Lake with friends. Her joy was to watch her God children grow into adulthood and she was very much a part of their lives. She was an avid 49'er fan and kept up with the team. Linda was a self-less person who always put others before herself. She will be forever in our minds and our hearts.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Purta, and her husband Don Diez. She is survived by her sister, Helen Davis (Bill); brother Ron Purta; nephews Peter Davis and Lynn Davis and their families; close friends Norm and Gay Miller, Matt and Megan Miller and their families; and many other special friends.

A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18 at the Yuba City Moose Lodge, 205 S. Walton Ave. Yuba City.

At Linda's request a scattering at sea will take place at a later date, under the direction of the Neptune Society.
