Lorena Louise Lowe Obituary

Lorena Louise Lowe, the oldest of 3 children, was born August 18, 1938, in Westwood, CA. to Nicholas and Louise Freemyers. She had two brothers, Donald L. and Gerald S. (deceased) Freemyers. The children were educated in Chester, CA, and Lorena graduated from Chester High School. Later, Nick remarried Marie Monroe and two sisters joined the family, Kathy Bonner and Cindi Freemyers Sharp.

Lorena attended Chico State College and earned a BA degree in Home Economics and Art, and later a Master's degree in Ed. Administration from the University of Laverne. She was an avid and enthusiastic 44-year educator who taught in Anaheim Union H. S. District, Plumas Unified School District and 34 years in the Marysville Joint Unified School District, the last 5 years as an Assistant Principal of Alicia Intermediate School in Linda. She was honored to be a California Mentor Teacher for 12 years. Over the years she taught: art, computer, home economics, math and science, and was the District Art consultant for many years.

Delmer Z. Hassian married Lorena and they had 3 boys: Kelly P., Jeffrey L. and Scott C. Hassian. She later remarried Theodore A. Lowe, Sr. and 4 step- children joined the family: Ted R. Lowe, Brian, Brenda, and Kelly Marie. Together they raised the "Brady Bunch", being active and supportive parents in school activities and the children's interests.

Her special interests included: thimble and depression glass collecting, painting water colors, photography, gardening, traveling, and hosting special occasions for family holidays. She enjoyed working on the computer and high tech equipment and was the first teacher at Alicia to have a computer and taught other teachers how to get started.

Many will miss Lorena Louise Lowe. Funeral Services will be held at Lakeside Colonial Chapel â€" 830 D Street, Marysville, CA. on Oct. 25, 2013. The Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 am.
