Mardell Watson Matchett Obituary

Mardell was born September 23, 1921 in Hynier, Utah, to William "Buck" Watson and Lydia Harrison Watson. She passed away on October 24, 2015 at the age of 94. She lost her father at the age of 8 in a coal mining accident. After she graduated from high school in Salt Lake City, she moved to Marysville, CA, with her mother and brother, Paul. It was there she met the love of her life, Larry Matchett. They married and moved to El Cerrito to work for the war effort at the naval shipyard.

After the war, they moved to Yuba City to raise their family and start a thriving business, Larry's Business Machines, Inc. They started the business in 1946 and their granddaughter, Sarah, is continuing the family business. Mardell was an active member of the business women's association, Quota Club of Yuba City. She was a past president and attended many conventions throughout the U.S.

After retirement, Larry and Mardell moved to their forever home in Nevada City. They were active members in the Sierra Presbyterian Church and loved to travel throughout the United States and abroad. They were married for fifty years and enjoyed their children, grandchildren, and later for Mardell, great-grandchildren.

After Larry passed away in 1991, Mardell continued to be active in their church and still loved to travel with friends and family. She was known for her generosity, strength, and the love she had for her family is an inspiration to us all.

She will be forever remembered by her adoring family, daughters Gail Yelland (Rob), and Lynne Nugent (Kerry), daughter-in-law Holiday Matchett, her grandchildren Clayton (Shae), Elliott (Mai), Cara (Brian), and Sarah, as well as six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her loving son Bob, husband Larry and her wonderful brothers Paul Watson and Bill Watson, as well as in-laws Mick and Sherry Hall, Darrell and Stella Brower.

We sincerely thank her caregivers, Vanich and Jit for years of loving care and attention.
