Max Henry Doner Obituary
Max Henry Doner was born March 8, 1920, in Loup City, Nebraska, to William and Nettie Doner. Max passed away on October 9, 2013, in Challenge, California, in the home he built himself in 1964 on the 300 acre tree farm he loved and managed so well.

While serving in the Marine Corps in World War II, he met Nina Lee Brown, and after the war they were married on April 27, 1946. They were happily married for 67 years, and shared a profound love for each other. Max worked as a professional forester for 31 years, retiring in 1980, but continued to do consulting forestry work for many more years afterward. Max loved fly fishing, reading and writing poetry, managing his tree farm, and traveling. He was a wonderful father to his two sons, Max Stephen Doner, and Roy Raymond Doner, providing them with a loving, stable, and happy home. He participated heavily in Little League and Boy Scouts with them.

Max is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Nina Doner, of Challenge, California, by his two sons, Max S. Doner, of Foster, Oregon, and Roy R. Doner, of Oroville, California, by four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

His Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1330 Bird Street, Oroville, California. His interment will be Thursday, October 17th, at 11:00 a.m., at Brownsville Cemetery, 8980 LaPorte Road, Brownsville, California. Arrangements are entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home, 530-534-3877.
