Mildred Lorraine Minard Obituary

Mildred Lorraine Minard (Day) passed away peacefully on July 18, 2015 at the age of 97. Born on May 27, 1918 to William and Rosie Day in Newark, South Dakota and raised primarily in Oakes, North Dakota.

Mildred (Millie) and George Minard were married in 1938, residing in Oakes, with their 3 sons until 1956, when they moved to Yuba City, CA. She worked during the summers in various fruit processing plants and at "Jay's" clothing store in Marysville for twenty years. Millie and George both retired in 1977. They enjoyed their growing family and traveling in their RV for many years. George's passing in 2001 ended their 63 year marriage. Millie continued her activities at the Senior Center (which included quilting/ceramics) and card playing with friends until circumstances made it too difficult for her. However, her favorite pastime was participating in the numerous functions at the Moose Lodge in Yuba City where she enjoyed visiting and dancing with her many friends. She will be missed.

Survivors include 3 sons - Jerry Minard (Mary) of Yuba City, Raymond Minard (Dellavon) of Colusa, and Curtis Minard (Sharon) of Sacramento; 6 grandchildren - Tim Minard (Lynn) of Stockton, Sean Minard (Heather) of Yuba City, Shaylene Lewelling (Greg) of Yuba City, April Patterson (Bill) of Chico, Travis Minard (Jenifer) of San Antonio, TX and Heather Henry (Marcus) of Sacramento; 8 great-grandchildren - Brianna, Colin, Chloe, Mia, Bradly, William, Heidi and Rene; 1 great-great grandchild - Aubree; 1 brother - Leslie Day of Oaks, N. Dakota and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George; granddaughter Teresa; her parents; 5 sisters - Gladys, Florence, Verrie, Ethel and Helen and 3 brothers - Kenneth, Frank and Cliff.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose #1089 and the American Legend Auxiliary of Oakes, N. Dakota.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life will follow at the Yuba City Moose Lodge.
