Naranjan Kaur Basrai Obituary

"A mother's responsibility is to love and to love all," words spoken by Naranjan Kaur Basrai, 81, who peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 14, 2015. Born in the East and settling in the West, her life embodied the best of both worlds.

A divine giver, mother, sister, and friend to all, she blessed this earth with her beauty and grace.

Moving from Punjab, India, she traveled with her young family to England before settling in Yuba City. A life-long learner she supported education for all. A brave adventurer, at the age of 75 she scaled Hemkunt, a holy site in the Himalayan mountain range.

Actively involved in the community, she gave devoted service to the Sikh Gurdwara. Her unconditional support was an inspiration to all.

She leaves behind a devoted and loving family: a life partner, Sawarn Singh Basrai; four children, Kamala K. Alexander, Sarbjit S. Basrai, Iqbal S. Basrai, Sukhpal K. Basrai; cherished grandchildren and many more she loved as family.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am January 18, 2015, at Chapel of the Twin Cities, 715 Shasta Street, Yuba City, 95991.
