Norman A. Palmer Obituary
Norman A. Palmer, 98, passed away June 20, 2014 at The Courtyard in Yuba City, CA. His wife of 72 years, Blanche Palmer passed away January 20, 2013.

Norman was born and raised in Arboga, California on February 15, 1916. He went to Arboga Grammar School and then rode the first Yuba County Bus to Marysville High School.

He met Blanche at Farm Land Investment Company where he was the first caterpillar tractor driver in Yuba County. He also became the first caterpillar mechanic. Blanche worked at the Farm Land Investment Company in the office. They were married in 1942. Three months later he was drafted into the Army and went to the Pacific where he was assigned to the 32nd Infantry Division. He was there for three years. He left as a Private and came back a 1st Sergeant. Blanche ran the personnel office at Camp Beale, while he was away. When he returned from the war in 1945 he purchased half interest in Brown's Auto Repair. In 1960 he purchased the other half of the business and changed the name to Palmer's Auto Repair.

Norman and Blanche had two sons Dale & Wesley Palmer, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Norman was preceded in death by his father & mother Arthur C. Palmer and Olga Palmer; his wife Blanche Palmer, his son Wesley Palmer and his wife Norma Palmer, brothers Ralph and Evert Palmer, sisters Lola Cummings, Gene Weimer and Ethel Palmer.

After his retirement in 1977 Norman and Blanche traveled to most of the United States. They also traveled extensively in Europe and Scandinavia. His parents were from Sweden.

Norman was an avid hunter and even more avid fisherman. He fished most of the local lakes and many out of state. He hunted in Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. He took his last Elk at age 88 years old in 2005.

The family would like to thank The Courtyard Assisted Living for the care of Norman during his last year, and all the doctors at Sutter North.

Services will be held at Sierra View Mortuary with the Viewing from 5:00-8:00pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Service will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Burial immediately after.
