Robert Carl Smith Obituary

Robert Carl Smith exited this world on March 5, 2017 after having lived a full life. Bob, or known to friends as R.C., entered this life in Yuba City, July 24, 1937 to parents Thomas and Enoma Smith. He was the 2nd of 6 children. He graduated from Yuba City High School in 1955, and shortly after began working for the State of California in highway construction. Later, he transferred to Water Resources and worked on construction of the Oroville Damn and Aqueduct project, moving south every few years and having the opportunity to get to experience the entire state of CA.

Construction and Safety moved him to projects at Diablo Canyon, then other Nuclear plants in the states of Washington and Illinois. He finished off his career by returning to CA state employment and retired in 2012 with over 35 years of service.

His passions were cars, particularly classics that were fast, and piloting his own Bonanza airplane. He was a member of Pebble Beach Sports Car Club for over a decade, while living on the Monterey peninsula.

Bob was predeceased by 3 wives. His two biological daughters were with him when he died due to advanced prostate cancer. He touched many lives, that include 7 additional step children 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

He was loved and will be missed by many. Friends and family are invited to share what would have been his 80th birthday the weekend of July 22-23rd in Yuba City by getting together to celebrate his life.
