Robert (Bob) Gonsalves Obituary

Robert (Bob) Gonsalves of Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away on July 15, 2015 at the age of 77. Bob was a long time resident of Northern California.

He was a standout athlete and graduate of Grant Union High School. He started for the Grant Union Pacers football team as a halfback and defensive end. He also played basketball and competed in track. Bob continued to play football in college where he was the quarterback for American River Junior College. He further continued his academics at Chico State University.

In 1962, Bob started working with Quarter Horses and went on to become a horse trainer where he excelled in Reined Cow Horses. Bob later moved to Massachusetts where he continued to train horses and worked for the Racing Commission at the Foxboro Race Track in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Bob's love for California brought him back where he started his Equine Dentistry and Equine Transportation business.

Bob never seemed to know a stranger and is remembered by all who knew him to always have a smile on his face. He loved to help others out, tell stories, travel and barbecue for his family and friends.

Bob will be missed dearly by his daughter Sherri (Michael) of Yuba City, California; sons: Bob Jr. of Millsap, Texas; Gary (Jessica) of Millsap, Texas and Ron of Weatherford, Texas. His brothers Ronald Gonsalves of Sacramento, California and Benjamin Gonsalves of New Bedford, Massachusetts, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rancho Murieta Equestrian Center, 7200 Lone Pine Drive, Rancho Murieta, California on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 8:00 p.m.
