Robert Lee Blevins Obituary

Robert Lee Blevins, age 91, died September 19, 2014, with his daughter Julia by his side.

Robert was born July 18, 1923 in Gila Bend, AZ and later the family moved to Marysville in 1928.

Bob graduated from Marysville High School in 1941 and then attended U.C. Berkeley. At the age of 19, he was the U.S. Golden Gloves Heavyweight Champion. That same year he was drafted into the Army. Before going overseas, he fought exhibition fights with Joe Louis and several other professional boxers.

After returning from the war, he opened A Honkey Tonk in Linda and featured names like Fats Domino. He went on to own several bars and restaurants in Reno, Squaw Valley and throughout San Francisco. When he retired in his 70's, he published a book about Marysville in the 30's.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Julia and three sons, Michael, Robert and Joseph.

At his request, no services will be held.
