Robert Minoru Manji Obituary

August 28, 1934 - December 31, 2014

At the age of 80, Robert Minoru has passed suddenly. He was born and raised in Yuba City and later settled in Sacramento. He graduated Yuba City High School in 1953 where he excelled in sports, Yuba Jr. College in 1955 and attended San Jose State. Robert worked at Caltrans from 1960 until 1996 and following retirement, he did consulting work. He kept busy taking care of his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, bowling, reading and watching his favorite sports on tv.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Kadoi) Manji; daughter Lori (David) Wong; grandchildren, Clark (Cheryl) Ishihara, Taylor and Jenna Wong; sisters, Chioye Kobayashi, Grace Mitsutome, June Oga; and brother, Harry Manji; mother-in-law, Hatsune Kadoi; many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by daughter, Janine Mitsuko Manji; parents, Yoshizo and Chise Manji; and siblings, Lillian Manji, Masako Uyeda and Terry Manji.

He was generous and very devoted to his family and friends. His gentle heart and cheerful smile will be remembered by all.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service Thurs., Jan. 15, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, 2401 Riverside Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to in his honor.
