Rodney (Rod) Sokoloski Obituary
Rodney (Rod) Sokoloski
Rodney (Rod) Sokoloski, age 64, left this world on St. Paddy's Day, March 17, 2014 in Palmdale, CA to join his daughter Stephanie, granddaughter Faith and his Mom in heaven. Rod was born July 26, 1949 in Reseda, CA, to Catherine Lynch Sokoloski and M.A. Sokoloski. He passed away peacefully with his wife at his side after a short but courageous fight with cancer along with complications relating to his kidney transplant.

Rod is survived by his wife of 39 years Sue; daughter and son-in-law Anna & Ryan Dempsey, of Palmdale; sister Karen & husband W.C. (Lew) Lewis of Gridley CA; Uncle Dick Sokoloski of Marysville, CA; mother and father-in- law Betty and Wiley Rouse of Marysville, CA; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins â€" family.

Rod was a life long auto racing enthusiast and was employed by Edelbrock Corp. of Torrance, CA, among other like businesses during his career. Through Edelbrock he obtained one patent for his design of equipment for Harley Davidson motorcycles. Rod was a self taught designer/engineer of high performance automotive equipment specializing in intake manifolds and cylinder head designs. Rod worked hand in hand with some of the best engine builders in the nation including NASCAR, Dirt Late Model's, drag racing and Sprint cars as well as Harley Davidson. You have to be a "motorhead" to understand this but he once said in his mind's eye he "could visualize fuel and air running throughout an engine". He was quite literally a genius and master craftsman in his field. Rod will be sorely missed not only for his knowledge but his "tell it like it is" personality and dry sense of humor.

As dedicated to his work as Rod was, nothing surpassed his love of family, home, his beloved dogs and his '49 Chevy Street Rod. Rod had a passion for every genre of music especially classic rock, R&B and country. You didn't want to play music trivia with Rod because he knew almost every song and artist. Rod would then continue to surprise us by discussing in detail his knowledge of art and architecture and films.

The family would like to thank the staff of Keck Medical Center of USC for the wonderful care that Rod received over the past years. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Donate life America, , or Keck Medical Center of USC. We would like to encourage everyone to sign up to be an organ donor.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, CA.
