Ronald (Ron) Matthew Ockerman, 83, of Sutter, passed away on January 2, 2017 at home. He was born June 19, 1933 in Yuba City, CA. He was a Sutter High School graduate in the class of 1952. Ron was a Yuba-Sutter resident his entire life except for when he was serving in the United States Air Force.

Ron is survived by his wife Nanci Ockerman; sister Donna Ockerman; children Rebecka Zahnd (Richard), Marc Ockerman, Jim Matson, Robert Matson, Scott Witt, and Aimee Moore Glass (Jerry); grandchildren Matthew Gordon, Jonathan Gordon, Myranda Jordan, Christopher Matson, Kyle Matson, Erik Matson, Ashley Matson, Stephani Cooksey, Cole Hunter, Marissa Glass, Hayden Witt, and Jordan Witt; and great-grandchildren Maisee, Zach, Elisha, Nolan, Hank, and Molly. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Cassius and Lauretta Epperson and his brother Jack Ockerman.

Ron retired after 23 years of service at Lucky's stores where he was the department manager of nonfoods. He also worked for other retailers including Purity, California Market, and Delco. Ron loved hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, woodworking, quilting, sewing, and volunteering wherever needed, especially with the Memorial Day service at his church. He took great joy in creating specialized gifts for his loved ones.

Services will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Christian Center located at 2620 Colusa Hwy in Yuba City.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being set up in Ron's honor for the Memorial Day services and display at Calvary Christian Center.
