Ronnie Vernon Amaro Obituary

Ronnie Vernon Amaro of Live Oak, California, died at his home on March 18, 2017, after a long illness. He fought courageously against cancer for over a year and his positive attitude always carried him through in life, and he was a wonderful encouragement to his family.

He was born in Whittier, CA on April 24, 1962 to Frank and Betty Amaro.

He worked as an arborist for a Southern California school district in his earlier years. For many years he was a facilitator for the Fathers First program, sponsored by Truth Tabernacle Church, and he taught parenting classes at the Yuba County Jail. He was certified by Yuba College as a drug and alcohol counselor, and was a founding member of the Regional Emergency Shelter Team (REST) program. Ronnie was proud to be a member of this important service organization helping the homeless in our community. He has been, until he recently became too ill to work, a supervisor for REST in Yuba and Sutter Counties.

Ronnie leaves behind his beloved wife, Cheryl Buerki Amaro, his son Jonathan Ronnie Amaro and daughter-in- law Marissa of Live Oak, and his stepchildren - Noel Greer of Omaha, Nebraska; Chelsea Greer and Austin Greer of Live Oak; J.D. Travis of Sacramento; Sarah Travis of Florida; Kevin Travis of Marysville; Leanne Simpson of Oroville; and his in-laws Charles and Artis Buerki of Sutter.

He is survived by five brothers and sisters - Leslie Stoker, Jenny Amaro-Stahl, and Frankie Amaro of Ontario, CA; Toni Hayes of Alabama; and Danny Amaro of Sacramento.

Ronnie is preceded in death by stepsons Chris Travis and Erick Travis, his sister Rosemary, his brother Anthony, and his parents Frank Vierra Amaro and Betty Ruth Weeks Amaro.

He is a member of Cornerstone Church in Yuba City, and was a long time member of Truth Tabernacle in Marysville. CA.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, April 1, at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 700 Washington Avenue, Yuba City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations written to Cornerstone Church for the Ronnie Amaro family.
