Rose T. Marumoto Obituary

Rose T. Marumoto passed away in Sacramento at the age of 94 on November 25, 2017. She was born in Newcastle, Placer County in 1923 to parents who immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s.

Rose joins in eternal rest her late husband, George Takamoto, and their son, Alan Takamoto.

Rose was raised and educated in Placer County and received her High School Diploma in June 1942, while incarcerated at the Tule Lake concentration camp. After the war, Rose and her parents relocated to the Yuba City/Marysville area.

Rose was married to her first husband, George in 1947. She was widowed in 1969. She went to work for the Sutter County Free Library while raising and sending three children to college on her own.

Rose was married to Stanley Marumoto in 1986. She was active with the Marysville Buddhist Church Fujinkai and Pink Ladies volunteer group at Fremont Hospital. Her greatest pleasures involved reading, watching Japanese videos, writing letters to family and friends and visiting with her children, siblings and their children.

Rose is survived by her husband of 21 years, Stanley Marumoto, her daughter, Valorie (Randy) Chinn, and her son, George Drew Takamoto.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Marysville Buddhist Church, 125 B Street, Marysville, on Saturday, January 13th, 2017, at noon.
