Long time area resident, Ruth Davis Johnson, passed away March 2, 2015. Born in Wellington, Kansas on December 26, 1915, to James A. Davis and Edith Shinn Davis, Ruth spent her early years in Clearwater, Kansas and Missouri. She graduated from Wichita School of Nursing in 1938. In 1939, she relocated to Marysville to work at Rideout Memorial Hospital, where she lived with the nurses in the 4th floor dorm. She worked at the hospital for several years, following which she spent many years working for Dr. Joseph Salopek and Dr. Stanley Parkinson.

On April 3, 1941, Ruth married Max Johnson in Wichita, Kansas and they settled in Marysville. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Francie Lindsey (Ray) of Riverbank, California, Ruthanne Leister (Ken) of Sandy, Utah, Holly Hopkins (Kevin) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one son, Mike Johnson (Barbi) of Marysville; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, who passed away July 7, 2014.

Besides her busy nursing career, Ruth spent many hours working in the community. She served on the Marysville Planning Commission and provided a great amount of time supervising voting booths during local and national elections. Later in her life, she found great satisfaction volunteering as a Pink Lady with the Fremont Hospital Auxiliary.

Ruth touched the lives of many people throughout her life in the dedicated service she gave to others. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in Stake and Ward leadership positions.

For those who would like to extend their condolences to the family, a viewing will be held at 9:30 AM with funeral services following at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Stake Center, 1470 Butte House Road, Yuba City, California.
