Sachie Shimizu Obituary

Sachie Shimizu passed away on May 18, 2014 at home in Yuma, Arizona.

She was born on November 17, 1926 in Japan. In her late twenties, she came to visit her cousin in Yuba City, and was introduced to Masao Shimizu, whom she later married. She obtained her U.S. citizenship and lived most of her life in Yuba City with Masao, making a living farming peaches. Sachie and Masao were married for 57 years until his passing earlier this year.

She enjoyed spending time in her garden where she grew flowers and vegetables that she loved to share with her friends and neighbors. Her favorite pastime was to read Japanese mystery novels. She also loved to cook Japanese dishes for her granddaughters whom she adored.

She is survived by daughter, Linda (Mark) Greenspan; son, Dean (Jennifer) Shimizu; granddaughters, Jessamine, Stephanie and Peyton. She is also survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

There will be a memorial service for both Sachie and Masao at the Marysville Buddhist Church on June 2, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in memory of Sachie Shimizu to: Yuba City Senior Center, 777 Ainsley Avenue, Yuba City, CA 95991.
